Digital
My art has been a continuing process. I began photographing and working in my father’s darkroom at the age of 10. My vision has been shaped through the enjoyment of books, theater, music, history, mythology and the arts. My digital works include many layers and different photographs to make a final image. Some take months to complete. I am often surprised that my thoughts and feelings have coalesced into a visual expression of exactly how I view a particular topic.

35mm Film, Slides
I create all of my photographs with 35mm cameras and slide films. I prefer traditional exposure on slide film for both its archival qualities and as a reference for printing. All of my prints match the original slide as precisely as is currently possible. I make no digital alterations to color or content from the original slide. For me photography is a language. It is a way to communicate about a place or time. When I am present and in the moment, my vision, and consequently my photographs, show reverence. What I see through my lens is not there until I allow my mind to see the perfection in the obvious and the stunning beauty of the often overlooked.

Digital
Born and raised in Kongsberg, Norway, I came to live in the US in 1994. With my camera I capture everything from portraits and weddings to commercial images and anything from rocks to roses. I am inspired by the beauty and simplicity of nature. My motto is ‘less is more’ because it is often what is not included that makes a great photo.

Black & White
Inspired by the song “Beautiful Houses” (the Gravities), these shots reflect the singers sentiments “…we were beautiful houses not long ago… we let the wrong ones in… now our rooms have all grown cold…” I wanted to capture the feeling of sadness that I saw in these houses. Perhaps the viewers too will wonder what they were formerly, and hope someone will bring them back to their original beauty.
